Led with Student-Centered Vision
Since day one, I have prioritized improving student success, increasing parent engagement, and enhancing transparency. Here’s my proven track record:

When KCPS was tasked with selecting a new superintendent, I championed that we pick a strong, student-focused leader. This critical decision brought stability and a renewed focus on academic achievement, resulting in improved graduation rates.
-
In two years our graduation rates have increased from 72.7% in 2022 to 87.4% in 2024. Our district’s Annual Performance Rate, a cumulative metric that reflects our academic standing, grew from 66.6 to 73.2.
-
When families, educators, and community members reached out with concerns—like school-specific issues or scenarios for individual children—I ensured their voices were heard by elevating them to the Superintendent for resolution.
While there is still a lot of work to do, my unwavering commitment to listening and leading with a focus on student outcomes has contributed to these measurable improvements.

Strengthened Financial Oversight & Accountability
I believe that an organization’s budget is a reflection of its priorities. As Finance Committee Chair, I collaborated with my colleagues to ensure that input from students, parents, and educators informed our budget priorities.
-
This resulted in more funding for classroom resources, student programs, and educator support, directly benefiting the district’s core mission of student success.

-
I also led efforts to improve transparency and accountability in district spending saving the district from duplicative costs.
Championed Engagement & Effective Governance
Like most parents, I juggle several responsibilities, so I know firsthand how important it is to have inclusive engagement that meets people where they are. As a KCPS School Board member, I regularly engaged in community meetings, school visits, and created opportunities for ongoing dialogue—ensuring that district decisions reflected the needs of students, families, and educators. I also built strategic partnerships to strengthen KCPS in new ways.

-
I worked directly with stakeholders to address real issues, from ensuring community assets like Paseo’s stairs were maintained to helping families and educators get the support they needed in their schools.

-
I collaborated with key community organizations to ensure they had the information they needed to support the upcoming GO Bond, which will bring critical investments to our schools.
